All 16 teams could still win this football league with just four games to go

What football fans in this part of the world would give for such a close contest.

SPARE A THOUGHT for the fans of NA Hussein Day in Algeria.

The club, based in the capital Algiers could still win the Ligue 1 title with just four games to go.

The only problem is they are currently bottom of the 16 clubs that make up they country’s top tier:

Fifa Fifa

As you can see above, just 11 points separate the entire league but it is, from our research, not yet the closest a league finish there has ever been.

Way back in the 1965/66 season, 57 points won Wydad Athletic Club the Moroccan title while both Club Omnisport de Meknes and Maghreb Athletic Club Tetouan were relegated just eight points back on 49.

And if you’re wondering if we’re being to simplistic about NA Hussein Dey winning the league, if they win all four of their remaining fixtures and the current top four lose theirs — by no means a stretch given how close the league is — there will be a five-way tie at the top.

With the current bottom club holding the best head-to-head record, they would be crowned league champions for just the second time in their history.
